God Bless Television by Jonathan Ouisse
There’s something so eerie, yet desirable about this piece. Or not quite desirable. I feel like I want to dive into the picture and swoon in its conventions, but at the same time know that my decision to do so would leave me in a place where I’d never see anything that I ever knew ever again. And for some reason, I’m fine with that. Maybe because it’s a place that is familiar to me. It’s complicated. It’s familiar because I feel like it’s a place in my heart that I just discovered, but the convolution is that at the same time, it’s a place that I knew existed all along. Like a dream that leaves you wondering where the rabbit was going, and why the person you never knew had to leave you feeling so alone. It’s the kind of dream that lasts all night.
